LAS VEGAS CENSUS PLEASE FILL OUT THIS FORM AND RETURN BY MAIL. EVELYN WHITE BASIC INFORMATION
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION HAIR COLOR AND STYLE: Evelyn’s hair is long and bright blond. She simply curls her hair when it comes to styling most of the time, often giving the illusion that her hair is shorter. When she and the gang head down to the Can, however, she prefers to leave it down. EYE COLOR: Blue as a churning ocean. BODY BUILD: Taught to sit right, walk right, even eat right, Evelyn has some disadvantages in a gang. Being the member of said greaser gang, well she could either make or break her strength- lucky for Evelyn she made it. She is tall for a girl, standing at about five foot eight and slim. Miss White may not be the brawniest of her friends, but she does hold her own and does not hold back her punches. They’re quite painful, I hear. GET UP: It depends- is she in the presence of her parents or lighting up a cigarette or two with her friends? She dresses classy but intimidating to some since she is rather physically alluring, adorning a red lip and a black blouse or white button-up shirt with a pencil skirt or tight black pants to match. Her favorite article of clothing that is essential is her Sons of Saints leather jacket. It is terribly important that she hides this from her family, in which she keeps it folded in a bag that lays hidden in plain sight. Since Evelyn has found herself to be more in touch with her tomboy side, she feels more comfortable in a white tee shirt and jeans- with the leather jacket, of course. Around her parents, she seemingly leaves the house dressed elegantly with her button-up shirt tucked into a flurry pink or white skirt with classic black flats to match or a dress. She always manages to sneak her 'other' clothes right over their noses and is almost always changed before she and the girls even arrive at school. PERSONALITY DISPOSITION: Evelyn is exactly what you already know, a rebellious young girl trying to find herself. Before her life in a gang, she was rather innocent and studious. She is very smart but a bit naïve as most teenagers are. As a child, she would throw rocks into the already broken windows of abandoned homes and sneak out in the evenings to play ball with her older brother. When he died, her mother quickly shaped this out of her and ever since she had been taught to be a lady. She would hate to admit so, but this lifestyle has made her somewhat spoiled and, at times, self-righteous. After bloodying her knuckles, she found that she possessed a dark side- a temper and a degree of toughness. She wasn’t a fragile dandelion after all. What little fights she has been in and lost, she had made up for with her ruthless wins by sometimes beating someone until the girls pulled her off. While her parents are blinded by their arrogance, she is by anger if you tap the right buttons. A lot of this stems from her parents manipulation, but she can too in her own way, be manipulative. Despite this, she is an overall compassionate person, opinionated, and kind. She is also quick-witted- almost snarky- and enjoys laughing. HISTORY HOMETOWN: Los Angeles, California - (1939 -1948) Las Vegas, Nevada - (1948 - Present) FAMILY: Victor White - Father - 59 Edith White - Mother - 57 Dylan White - Brother - Deceased FRIENDS: Vicki Reyes and Bee Poplawski are her truest friends and they are otherwise known as The Soul Sisters. They are also referred to as "the Nuns" by the Sons of Saints, their allied greaser gang, led by Peter and Freddy whom she also considers close friends. Evelyn holds them closer as family more so than her actual family. RECORD: Evelyn’s tale does not begin with her. It begins in 1790 at the peak of the French Revolution. Radical Napoleon Bonaparte had begun taking steps to overthrow the monarchy and establish a republic through violent political means. Not only did this change the course of modern history, but it also deeply affected the lives of the European people, part of those poor souls being the DuParaquettes. They were a noble family up until the revolution and had to quickly plan an escape from the crumbling state of their country- and from execution by Napoleon. With just enough luck and money they acquired the means to travel to the United States of America by ship and establish a new life In those days, it was easy to simply travel to the newly formed states and just start a life. It was a rather devastating blow to their noble egos, but they had many plans to rebuild their wealth and status in a new home. The DuParaquettes began farms and looked into means of trade, until their arrogance had left them blind, as they underestimated the many setbacks they would experience. During the war of 1812, Adrian DuParaquette fought in battle and so did the next oldest son of the family generations later during the Civil War. By the time Sylvia DuParaquette was born in the summer of 1900, her family had established its wealth just as planned and, instead of just running farms, had become one of the biggest manufactures of cigarettes in the country. Part of this success was because cigarettes were illegal at the time in many states. She grew up with a plethora amount of opportunities, all handed to her on silver platters with floral patterned dresses and powdered noses to match. Everything she did, she was taught to do it like a lady. Yet again did the company suffer another setback during the Great War, but you could call it a final blow. Her older brother had volunteered to fight in 1918, just as all of the DuParaquettes oldest sons did, and died. Their heartbroken father lost all motivation to continue years and years of rebuilding what was and by the nineteen twenties, DuParaquette cigarettes were no more. So, heartbroken herself, young Sylvia traveled to California to live and forget. Here she met Victor White, the son of a Senator. He was… mysterious even at a young age. Victor did not want to be into politics- he wanted to work in entertainment. It was this ambitious and slightly rebellious attitude that perhaps drew her to him. Like her, he came from wealth and knew how to be appropriate. Evelyn would say it was their shared blatant arrogance that drew them together. They fell in love and married in 1922, giving birth to Dylan White a year later. Victor had made a name for himself in the small time (at the time) Hollywood industry by this point and became a successful talent agent, managing the talents of actors and actresses, dancers and musicians. This followed the success of silent films. He had an eye for worth, as he would tell you. Evelyn was born in 1939 during the winter months, not too long after Hitler had taken Poland. Now, Victor was very well established in the continuous expansion of Hollywood, but there was something questionable about their steady income. The stock market crash of twenty-nine should have drained them dry like many who had acquired their funds through the twenties- but the Whites were still financially comfortable. It had left Sylvia wondering… was Victor being a talent agent just a ruse? Before she had mustered her courage to confront her husbands on such matters, their son had informed over Christmas dinner in 1941 after the attack on Pearl Harbor that he would be enlisting to fight for their country. All of the oldest sons in the DuParaquette family had fought in nearly every American war- so would he. After a dramatic dispute a confused rather frightened three year old Evelyn put an end to the fighting with her tears and their parents reluctantly accepted Dylan’s decision. Sylvia had felt betrayed, as her brother had died in the first world war and she had raised her son to be nothing but a gentlemen she as she would teach their daughter to be a lady- now he wanted to bloody his hands defending them in the second world war. They wanted him to be successful and had pressured him to begin studies in law. They thought very highly of their son who had done nothing but be golden (or so they thought). What if he died? Evelyn and her older brother were very close already and like her today, Dylan felt their upbringing was far from humble no matter what good intentions their mother had. Evelyn could not even begin to wrap her head around him going to war, but her parents did and they feared the worst. In 1944 nearly a year before Hitler’s suicide and the events of Hiroshima that ended it all, Dylan died on the beach of Normandy. Evelyn was only five years old when she witnessed those nicely dressed military men handing her mother the yellow slip that made her collapse in tears and somehow she knew. Distraught and desperate for a way to hide their pain, the Whites searched for any option. Victor had slowly heard more and more of the rapid expansion of Las Vegas, Nevada. Leaving their memories behind, they fled to Las Vegas with their daughter three years later and Victor quickly, yet again, established his name in the now growing entertainment business of Sin City. He now found acts for casinos and brothel’s, still recruiting actors, actresses, dancers and musicians of all kinds. Now, however, he had more opportunity to freelance. Sylvia had dressed and treated Evelyn like a doll. She was now an only child and therefore their only legacy. Her mother taught her to be everything Evelyn slowly began to realize over the years that she wasn’t. Sit and dress like this. Eat and talk like this. Social events and gatherings, put on that happy upper-middle class smile and pretend you’re enjoying yourself. They wanted Evelyn to be an accessory, something beautiful that sits on display while everything around her moved and changed. Throughout school, Evelyn dressed well and tended to her studies consistently. She felt trapped in an illusion and resented her mother from the time she was fourteen when she had started to find herself. Her mother had manipulated her personality so she could live through her daughter, she told herself. If Dylan had not died, perhaps her parents would have grown softer hearts and opened their minds and maybe would have been humble. The death of their child had scratched away any possibility of that life and so they continued to be the kind of family that never confronted their feelings, but instead pretended that the sun shined every morning. Evelyn had friends in school, but mostly kept to herself outside of classes. She followed the rules just like her father taught her and kept her grades in good shape. One evening she had a very heated argument with her parents that led her out the door running in such a rage that she hadn’t even realized she made it to town until her feet hurt. The sixteen year old girl was so angry and maybe all the sorrow of her brother’s death and her parents wiping it under the rug to keep up their perfect illusion. She uncharacteristically (at the time) punched the glass window of the nearest department store and shattered it to pieces. When she looked down in shock at her bloody knuckles, something clicked and she felt like a natural-born troublemaker. Maybe that is rather dramatic, but most teenagers are. She ran home quickly home and went right to bed without speaking to her parents again. The next day with a new sense of confidence (I would be lying if I said she was not a little afraid) she approached a group of greasers. Catching the eye of Donny, she soon became a Nun, the Soul Sisters- girlfriends to the Sons of Saints. Being the rich blondie, as some profiled her at first, she has learned to fight and be pretty all at the same time, to be street smart and tough. It all comes natural. Their gangs of troublemakers sparked her fire that should have been sparked a while ago. This was the carefree, rebellious life she needed along. She is between the boys of their gang, as she is now a senior in high school and knows the time will come to confront her family about her future. Though all she wants to make her parents angry so they will understand, she puts on a charade of being a good girl in their eyes but in reality is a rebel child of the streets. Of course she loves Victor and Sylvia, but they will never try to understand what Evelyn wants. Evelyn White won't be a rich man's wife. She'll be whatever the hell she wants. THE INCIDENT WHAT HAPPENED?: Evelyn has sneaked out that particular evening to go on a date with Donny, though they had cut it off months previous to the incident. They were sharing a cigarette on The Strip when a loud noise pierced the air and the neon lights turned black. The two teens became swept up in the panic and managed to make it back to the Can where they internalized their fear into necking until it all blew over. Needless to say by the time she was able to return home hours later, her parents had been in their own uproar of panic. Thinking about that evening still makes her feel unsettled, as a few members of the gang were amongst those that went missing. OOC INFORMATION
