and they thought you was high-classed Students instantly poured from their classrooms as the last bell of the day rang throughout the school. Evelyn was already headed out the front door. Her math class was, thankfully, in the main hall so she sometimes managed to slip out and avoid the crowded hallways. She had the books she needed in her hand, but what she really needed was her leather jacket hidden at home. Bee wanted to meet up later. There was a new girl, Vicki. She was sixteen years old and went to Catholic School like Bee. She’d seen her around and she was pretty, looked real kind but like she could hold her own. Evelyn attended public school, so she often had to meet up with everyone later, but tried to make it sooner. It was the weekend now, so tip toeing around her parents this evening would be easy. They knew she was friends with Bee, so often all she had to say was that they were going to have a sleepover and study. Lately, though, they look at her questionably. It made her feel like she was being watched. “Eve!” Someone called her name and she whipped around to see who. Betty approached her and she gave her friend a smile. “Hey, girl,” she greeted her, almost beaming. “You wanna go to a drive-in later? Shaun knows how we can sneak in.” They began to walk together. “Sorry, Bets, I already made plans,” she replied apologetically. “Hey don’t worry about it.”Betty was cool and classic. She had black hair, fair skin and always wore a different shade of lipstick every day, or at least it seemed. Ever since she’d joined the gang, she thought Betty would make a good addition. But she was, surprisingly, a cheerleader and that was her crowd. The two had met when she first moved to Las Vegas as a girl. They became real close and studied often together, stayed out of the way. As high school went on they found their places and hung out less and less these days. Evelyn still cared for her friend, so they still tried to stay in touch. “How are your folks?” Betty asked, as the continued down the sidewalk. “They’re fine,” she replied plainly. She didn’t really like talking about her parents, but they liked Betty so she liked them. “Dad reads the newspaper a lot more.” “Not a lot going on, huh?”“You could say that.”
The conversation paused. “Besides your new friends?” Evelyn looked at her, and Betty laughed. “Ay, it’s okay, right? Just curious.” Betty knew her friend was with the Sons of the Saints and the Nuns. They just never really talked about it and she had never been around them before. Maybe she worried about Evelyn, but she didn't have to. “It’s cool, Bets,” she gave her a light reassuring shove. She then her name being called again. Gee, wasn’t she popular today. Evelyn turned around, her blond hair whipping over her shoulder and her eyebrow raised. She couldn’t make out who it was, but it was a boy. “I’ll catch up with you later all right, Eve?” Betty gave her arm a squeeze. “Don’t be a stranger.” She replied with a smile as she watched her friend leave and then turned her attention back to the stranger. Oh, it was Freddy. Her heart leapt just a bit in her chest. They had some history. In bed, but it was history. And she had to say he was very attractive, not just his appearance but the way he did everything so smooth. He didn’t have to try to be cool, he was practically born cool. Freddy was also the best time she’d had between the sheets. Better than Donny, who was her first and even the reason they met. But he was only attracted to her physically. Freddy, though he flirted with any pretty girl in the room, was different somehow. Like he was interested in what she had to say. She found herself wondering sometimes why she didn’t see him more. “What an unexpected surprise,” she said with a pomegranate painted smile. Evelyn took a step closer to him as he approached her. Freddy didn’t go to school, he dropped out a while ago. “Taking an afternoon stroll or did you come all this way just to see me?”

making all his nowhere plans for nobody , School was but a distant memory for Fred and no matter how much his mother and stepfather shouted, he didn’t look back. No qualifications? So what?! Freddy had enough common sense and street smarts to get by just fine. Sure, he couldn’t quote Shakespeare or work out a sum quickly in his head but he could pick a lock or change a car tyre. That, in his eyes, was vastly more important than knowing a ton of shit about some posh, rich idiots that started wars. School was a drag and Freddy was content being a drop-out.
With so many of his closest friends still in school he often got bored. He’d find himself waiting by the school fence at recess, waiting for Dom to come out and have a smoke with him. Or he’d wait for Bee with Peter and, of course, ridicule her for her hilarious school uniform. That’s what he’d do on the particularly slow days, anyway. Sometimes Peter and him would find something to do and people to terrorize.
Today had been one of those slow days and it didn’t matter what he did, Freddy couldn’t find something to entertain himself. He was like a little antsy kid, fidgeting and uncomfortable. He needed a kick of something. Some excitement. Someone to talk to, at least. Anything!
Evelyn. Of course! Her school wasn’t far and Fred always enjoyed her company (especially when she was feeling particularly adventurous). They had slept together a couple of times before and it was always a great experience. So good, infact, that Fred didn’t try to drop her quickly after the thrill. Other girls were so… disposable. It was easy to pick up and drop girls as and when he liked. Evelyn, however, was different. There was something about her that kept him wanting more. She made him laugh and he honestly really liked being around her. These were all things he never admitted to anyone, of course. Not even Evelyn herself. He was Fred Bosko: notorious lady-killer and smooth criminal. No one could know he was going soft on a nun!
Anyway, realising how close Evelyn’s school was to the shitty run down park he had sat in with a few other (uninteresting) sons for the past hour, he bid his goodbyes to his friends and left. He had seen a few kids walk past in little huddles, chatting about their days at school, so he guessed that he was too late to meet her at the school gates. Instead, he slipped through a couple back alleys and lanes, cutting across the neighbourhood to the area between Evelyn’s home and the school. He knew she’d be around her somewhere.
Walking out of an alley, he gazed down the street and without disappointment; there she was just down the road. He’d recognise her anywhere- even from far away. She was walking with some girl. “Evelyn!” He called out before heading towards her in that confident stride of his, hands slipping into the pockets of his sons of saints leather jacket. Evelyn’s friend went off on her way, which was a shame because Freddy wouldn’t have minded meeting her.
As he approached her a smirk grew on his lips, his blue eyes taking in everything about her. Damn. There was something so refreshing about her. Just looking at her made him feel fantastic.
“What an unexpected surprise, taking an afternoon stroll or did you come all this way just to see me?”
Freddy’s arms snaked around her waist, pulling her towards him into a loose embrace with the same playful smirk on his lips as he looked between her blue eyes, her cute nose, her scarlet lips. “’Course I came to see you!” He gave her a tight squeeze. “I am here to make your day less shit and borin’. I am your hero! There’s no need to thank me.” He was playful as he spoke, an undertone of mischievousness in his voice.
Quickly, before she had a chance to back-out, he grasped hold of her hand and began walking her down an alleyway that diverted off the main road. “What do ya want to do first? Rob a shop? Start a car chase with the cops? Oh! We could throw rocks through someone’s windows! You can pick who, of course.” He looked back to her, a coy smile still on his lips as he raised a brow. He was joking, of course. He was just winding her up and acting like an idiot. As always.

and they thought you was high-classed She had no time to react before Freddy's arm wrapped slyly around her waist. He drew her into a small embrace with that cool smirk on his lips she knew anywhere. As he did this, she placed her free hand on his chest affectionately. Evelyn could have melted against him, but she kept her confidence about her with an arched brow. He was so clean cut, even with those adorable curls that still showed when he slicked them back with gel. “’Course I came to see you!” He squeezed her tight and she felt her stomach flutter. “I am here to make your day less shit and borin’. I am your hero! There’s no need to thank me.”
He spoke exuberantly- which meant he wanted to hang out with her. She flashed him a smile that looked pearly white through her red lips. "Oh? And whats make you think my day was so shitty?" She replied teasingly. "Guess I can't say it isn't better now." Vicki would have snickered and Bee sneakily jabbed her side, but Eve couldn't help herself. Especially not when it was just the two of them. Once again he took her by surprise by taking her free hand into his and leading her off the streets into an alley. Moments like this reminded her why she had wanted to join the gang. She loved the rush and had her own reasons behind rebellion. It made her feel like herself. And Evelyn reveled in the fact that she was sharing it with Freddy as they made their way swiftly through the tunnel like back roads. His eyes met hers again and he shot her another mischievous smile. “What do ya want to do first? Rob a shop? Start a car chase with the cops? Oh! We could throw rocks through someone’s windows! You can pick who, of course.”Evelyn pulled on his hand gently and stopped them in their tracks. She returned a smirk and let go of his hand for a moment to carefully place her books on the concrete at her feet. He was teasing and she let out a small giggle before composing herself with another natural arch of her eyebrow. "Or we could smash people's mailboxes and call it baseball!" She teased back with sarcasm. "You can pick the neighborhood." Evelyn crossed her arms and began to walk around him, gifting him a wink as she did. Her steps took her a very short distant in front of Freddy, but she looked briefly to see where they ended up. They had just gone off the main road and weren't too far from The Strip, now. With that sense of closure out of the way, she turned back to her mutual admirer and closed the distance between them again. "I can think of some other things," she wrapped her arms around his neck just as smoothly as he did her waist. Her tone held a balance between seductive and playful. Evelyn's eyes flickered between his equally blue eyes and mouth. Something that made the spark between her and Freddy strong was their influence over one another. He made her want to bust windows and play mailbox baseball. But right now, what he really made her want to do, was kiss him. He'd come and taken them all this way, who would bother them? "Unless, you were really wanting to start a cop chase. 'Cause I got a couple of ideas for that to happen, too." Evelyn laughed and pulled herself just a little closer to him, her nose brushing against his. She knew Freddy had quite the track record with girls. Who's to say tomorrow he wasn't going to kiss another beautiful girl as though this didn't happen? Evelyn wasn't in the gang anymore to just be a greasers girlfriend. She wanted to make her name for herself, in the Sons and Nuns- to be her own greaser in a way. It was why in this moment, as she embraced Freddy, she didn't feel guilty about what her girls might say. Though, it was this strange controversial part of their gang that made her hold back any genuine feelings she had for him. Right now, however, she could show him just she felt. "It's your call, lover-boy."
