michael works for the taurus corporation--a corporation in new york invested in real estate. the company is a little sordid to say the least and more than often uses "disreputable" manners to acquire its success. michael is their man in making these deals and he's sent out all over the world to see these deals through.
when nina was in new york she happened across michael in a dive bar in the city where she got into a fight with a couple of men who decided they felt entitled to her ass. she was introduced to taurus on the word of michael and hired to be his sort of body guard when he was sent out for deals.
other than this intro to nina and michael's partnership, his past is entirely up to you.
he's been sent by the taurus corp to buy up land and buildings (casinos etc.) in las vegas in order to get in on the growing success that is coming from gambling in the modern times--as well as to take advantage of the fact that public gambling isn't exactly legal yet.

the personality can be entirely up to you. he can be cutthroat and ambitious or he can simply just follow orders and commit to his job--although i have to say i lean toward the former since nina isn't a ray of sunshine and has very questionable morals herself. in order for these two to get along i can't imagine michale looking down on her lack of morality!
i imagine that nina and michael have a nice working relationship. i'd like the idea of the two of them having a casual flirtation and sexual relationship since they are out on jobs together all the time and are always alone with each other. but, if you have something else in mind i'm open to discussing it.
