LAS VEGAS CENSUS PLEASE FILL OUT THIS FORM AND RETURN BY MAIL. ADAM KAISER BASIC INFORMATION
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION HAIR COLOR AND STYLE: Thick, full-bodied, dark blonde, with the hint of a strawberry red tone. He often wears it casually parted to one side and only uses styling products for special occasions. It has been graying in the recent years and at times he will grow out his beard. EYE COLOR: His eyes are hazel, sometimes shifting between green and blue undertones, but almost a dark gold when he is angry. You would certainly know when. BODY BUILD: You would be rather surprised to find the length of his strength. Standing at five foot nine, he looks rather skinny with his somewhat short stature. If you were to receive a good clock to the chin, however, you would quickly find that he has a good amount of built up muscle. GET UP: During work he wears a special type of police uniform, specialized for the Chief himself. On casual days, he dresses well, of course, with an ironed buttoned up shirt tucked into slacks with an overcoat- depending on the weather. For events, he never misses the opportunity to dress in a nice tailored suit. What you wear is important and can boost a charismatic quality which is a well used 'tactic' of his. PERSONALITY DISPOSITION: Adam Kaiser is a rare type of man that you would come across in your years. Often people see a police chief, a leader who believes in the greater good. He finds this to be ridiculous, as there can be no good without evil. Egotistical and ambitious, you could say he takes a great deal of pride in this reputation, lauding his title at one moment, but then scoffing at it the next (often when snaking through an under the table job or turning his head). Adam is cruel, highly intelligent, relentless and ruthless. When needed, charming, sarcastically humorous, and polite. The only soul in years to feel the true warmth of the softer side of this man is his dear wife, Zelda. Even in the recent days, she finds her husbands shady demeanor... troublesome. One particular thing that he lusts for, is power. This man would do anything to get it; taking money to look the other way and ensure less legal results. He is a complex man, not driven just by ideology, but an incredible realist. Almost so realistic to the point of being inhuman. Adam understands that the world is not just one thing at a time and also bares a deep understanding of how the world works. A sense that he possesses, is the ability to read others, to find their dominant emotion they feel in that moment and use it against them. It is a sense that accentuates his impressive detective skills. He see's that Vegas is corrupt, the glitter and elaborate lights masking what lies beneath as it was built on the bones and wealth of Italian gangsters. It is this under layer that makes him feel the power he grasps. The more the citizens of Sin City reach out for help, the more powerful he feels. He wishes to capture this, keep the city in despair in order to feed his constant hunger for power. At one time, perhaps he really did feel as though he wanted to help better the lives of the Las Vegas citizens. Protect them and feed them sugar coated speeches to ease their troubled minds. He stopped feeling this way and grew the bitter seed of a tyrant to end this bluntly. Nothing will stop him, nothing will get in his way. HISTORY HOMETOWN: Richmond, Virginia (1904-1922) New York, New York (1922-1930) Las Vegas, Nevada (1932-Present) FAMILY: Mary Kaiser - Mother - Deceased Joseph Kaiser - Father - Unknown Zelda Renee Kaiser - Wife - 34 FRIENDS: He has acquired many friends over the years, all of which who have come and gone or have been worthy of underworld business friendship. However, he has no noteworthy friends other than his darling wife. RECORD: Richmond, Virginia. July 22, 1904. On that hot summer day, located within the beautiful mountains of the great state of Virginia, Mary Kaiser, the daughter of German immigrants, gave birth to Adam Joel. She loved him so dearly, more than life itself. They were quite poor and the boy’s father was nowhere, a dead beat alcoholic unable to help them, to pick up the pieces that he shattered himself. As he grew, Mary promised her son that she would provide him an excellent education, a perfect life. She was always so optimistic despite their conditions and always assured Adam that times were to change. The boy was bright, kind and smart. He attended school and from the grade of Kindergarten, he was top of the class. His teachers praised his smarts, impressed by his intellectual skills even at such a young age. When the Great War of 1917 shook the country, the American economy was at the worst that Mary had seen in all her years. She reluctantly talked Adam into getting a job, though he was only thirteen at the time. Sure enough, he was faced with the challenge of attending school and working at a mill. Unfortunately, he wasn’t the only one of his age that had to turn to child labor. Young men were sent off to war at huge rates. The reality he faced left an impact on his young mind, creating the realist ideas he follows to the day. He brought in a little extra money, but not enough. Despite the incredible struggle, Adam focused on his studies throughout his high school years. Luckily, the world war ended in 1919, America and its allies taking the victory and the Germans ultimately failing. It was then that the country succumbed into celebration. The state of the economy began to grow rapidly. It lifted a great weight from the shoulders of Mary and Adam, in which he finished his high school education with a breeze in 1921. He received scholarships and acceptance letters from universities across the country- most importantly the grandest of them all known as Cornell, located in New York City. Mary beamed with pure happiness and pride for her son, everything she had wished for him had come true. Adam believed he could finally provide a better life for them, but she contracted tuberculosis that same year. The seventeen year old worried greatly for his mother, but she urged him to go to New York no matter what, to attend the university and relish himself in the wonderful changes of the U.S. He promised to find her a great doctor while he was there, so in 1922 he set off for a new life in New York, NY and to attend Cornell University to study medicine. Upon arrival, he stepped into the glamorous time he still remembers fondly, known as the Roaring Twenties. Women had received their rights and he fluttered over the beautiful young girls known as flappers. Stocks reached record peaks, money was everyone's hands, the parties shook foundations, automobiles, glittering flappers, Harlem, new jazz age music, the Charleston, and thanks to the backfiring of the prohibition act, alcohol was incredibly cheap. A young, kind eighteen year old boy in New York City, alone and free during the roaring 1920s? He had never been drunk in his life until moving to the city… to say the least. Adam proved to be very successful at Cornell. There was one factor that had been against him- money. As far as he was concerned he was still poor, very poor, the scholarships only paying for his tuition. Much to the boy’s luck while attending a party in an underground speakeasy, he met one of the greatest alcohol bootleggers in the city. Little did he know this man was also a gangster and would the course of his life forever. Impressed by the boys quit-witted intelligence, charm and ideology (even when Adam was quite intoxicated at the time) the bootlegger offered him a job, the job that would ensure all the money he needed to continue studying medicine in exchange that he would work for him. It proved to be a great usage of his time and Adam felt as though everything could only go up… and it did. He assisted in handling the profits and was learning more in the bootleg business than at Cornell. During the time, he even had on and off flings with beautiful young women, every young hormonal boy’s dream. It was how he learned to dance the Charleston, as well. Life was grand. In letters, Mary questioned how he managed to further pay for his education, if he needed any help, but his answers were vague. Of course the young man couldn’t let his dear sick mother know that he was partying in the jazz age of NYC and bootlegging alcohol. It would break her heart and that was the last thing he wanted. And just when he had saved that little bit of extra cash to help her live comfortably financially and to pay for the best doctor to treat his mother’s respiatory illness, she died an untimely death in 1925. The only thing informing him was a one parahraph letter from the hospital. Devastated and bitter, he dropped out of Cornell just when he was three years in. Adam’s kind nature had slowly began to deteriorate, as he continued to bootleg alcohol, assisting in the crimes of his gangster friend and "partner". Suddenly, the stock market crashed in 1929. America was thrown into the Great Depression. Every penny he had was nearly gone, all of the business and hard work down the drain. All that was left of everything he had done over the past few years, was the remnants of crime. The now twenty-five year old man had nowhere to go, nothing left, so he departed from New York to head West in hopes of finding some sort of light at the end of the dark tunnel called the United States. Adam hopped many trains and it was during this time that he had seen men hungry. He met other individuals who suffered nearly the same fate and were cast off with nothing. During this rough time, he grew a darker side. With the knowledge he had gained bootlegging, he thought of many ways to redeem himself with some sort of business. When he ended up in Las Vegas in 1932, it was then that he decided to put his knowledge into play. The young sweet, optimistic boy he had been in the early twenties was receding. Yes, he kept his charming, polite qualities, that sense of humor, but the innocence had nearly faded within him. It was replaced by a bitter seed which vines carried through his veins to his finger tips. How could he be so nice when the world had not been in return? It was also true, that the bootlegging business had tainted him. The ruthless and intelligent men he worked for, looked up to, were his only role models. In the Nevada city, he obtained an open job in the LVPD. Low ranking, of course, but it was his ultimate charisma that got him a job and so it was his charm that would rank him up extensively. Others viewed Vegas at the time as a place of corruption, but that simply was not so in his eyes. Gambling was now legalized and casinos had seemed to succumb from the ground with lavishing atmospheres. Upon realizing that some of these businesses were growing from the mafia, Vegas itself in fact, Adam leaped at the opportunity to meet with them. Thanks to working within law enforcement, he was able to secure their safety in exchange for his own requests being filled. He helped the mobs, casinos, and brothels flourish with his extensive Cornell intellect and bootlegging knowledge. It was just what he had hoped for and slowly but surely he began to head to the top again. By 1942, he had reached the rank of Police Captain. Yet again, America was in another world war and the country was in shambles. To him, it was more opportunity. As Las Vegas began to expand, it needed the force. Working with the criminals of the underworld, the alluring mobsters, he had grown more of a ruthless quality than he already bared upon first arriving to Sin City. Adam was growing a lust for power. It was brushing his skin, teasing him, and he wanted to grip it firmly and have it for his own. When WWII had reached its peak, officers were volunteering for service, being shipped off to war in Germany, Japan… more war called yet for another opportunity. The rank of captain would simply not do for him. Thanks to the Manhattan project and influx of scientists that aided the research of the atomic bomb, of which was dropped onto Hiroshima in 1945, major development in Vegas officially began. Adam Kaiser finally accepted his deserving title of LVPD Police Chief in 1949 at the age of forty-five. It took incredible persuasion, charm, ideology and that intellect. This was a position that would do for him. Just in time for the true blossoming of Las Vegas. It was also this year that he had decided to treat himself to a celebration drink and he locked eyes with an angel. Her name was Zelda Fisher at the time and she was a dancer. Blue eyes crossed over hazel from many feet away, as she continued her routine on stage and he never allowed his eyes to wander once. Love at first sight, at least for Adam. She possessed milky white skin and bright blond hair that shined even in the dark. She was kind and just as quick-witted as he, fiery even. He wanted the young women so passionately that when he found out she was the girl of gangster Tony Calo- and owner of a well established casino at the time- he nearly went mad. Perhaps he did. In the deep desert night, Adam invited Mr. Calo to discuss a potential established partnership. He was the Chief now and his promises held much more weight than ever. The promise was never made, as Chief Kaiser waited for the man to turn his back at the perfect time and sent a bullet through one end of his skull and through the other. He burned down the casino and Tony Calo with it. So, Zelda and Adam married at the earliest opportunity while very much wrapped in the experience of love. As the years have passed, the citizens of Vegas have reached out desperate hands for help. Kidnappings, gangs, continued mafia activity and the overall prison of corruption. He relishes in the tragedies, in the power that he gains from the cities cries for help. Adam turns his head at crime, more so than often. He still loves his dear Zelda deeply, but he has noticed her concern and growing suspicion of his mad demeanor. Their relationship has slightly suffered. Egoistical and ambitious, he has great plans for the only police department of the elaborate town. Those who oppose him, are usually taken aback by his high level of knowledge, sarcastic sense of humor and polite charm- which are useful qualities in keeping the good and bad on his side. He still associates, deals with the underground shucksters of the city, as the more citizens lust for his protection, the more powerful he feels. THE INCIDENT WHAT HAPPENED?: He remembers being the patron of an entertainment establishment before the lights went black. And that is all he remembers, as he woke up alone in the midst of the desert, golden sand plastered to his cheek and feeling vulnerable for once in his life. Zelda had him found and being the Chief, it did not take long for his boys in blue to find him lost in the sand. Even today thinking of what happened to him is unsettling and after that night he sometimes has a reoccurring dream of a face that is familiar and the white flash of an explosion. What bothers him the most is that he has no recollection of ever knowing that familiar face. OOC INFORMATION
